Expecting #3

We are excited and feel so blessed to announce that "Baby Fairbanks" #3 is on his way!!! He should arrive the last week in May by C-section. It has been so fun to see Jackson's and Ashlynn's reactions to this new blessing in our lives. Throughout the year we prayed with our kids for another little spirit to come to our family. It has been a learning experience for the them to see that their prayers can be answered even if it takes a long time.

Just a few funny things since I have been pregnant...
1. Daddy was on a phone call at work when he got a text with a picture of the pregnancy test...he went speechless and the person on the other line thought he hung up.
2. Jer came home from work and told the kids we had a surprise for them. He told them and they were so excited, but they were still waiting for their surprise. That's kids for you.
3. The morning after the kids found out, they were laying in bed with me and Jackson leaned over and asked me to open my mouth...so I did and the next thing I know he was yelling in my mouth "good morning baby". LOL
4. They have been amazed by my growing stomach and "belly button". LOL! One day Jackson told me I was getting fat. Gotta love it!
5. They always kiss my tummy and talk to the baby.

Just a side note: As you can see I finally updated our blog after three months and that is due to being pregnant. I was fine the first 2 weeks. Then I started feeling sick at 6 weeks which happened to be the weekend we moved into our new house. I was not as sick as I was with Ashlynn, but very tired. I have never felt so tired in my life. I am now almost 17 weeks and have finally gotten over that hurdle.
Thanks to such a wonderful husband and understanding kids I was able to get through these past couple of months!

Ashlynn's Class Christmas Party!

Today was Ashlynn's class Christmas party. She was so excited for the party that I could not help but send her to school with a fresh cold. I planned to help out so I needed to be there. The kids had so much fun decorating presents and cookies, and making candy cane reindeer. Each child received a stocking filled with goodies and a present from their teaher.

Early Christmas!

Today we celebrated early Christmas with all the family just in case we get snowed in like last year. The kids had so much fun playing and sledding with their cousins. Grandma and Pa gave all the kids an early present which was their pajamas. It was a fun day with the whole family.

Jackson's 2nd Grade Program

Today was Jackson's 2nd Grade Program. The theme was a Cowboy Christmas. They sang for about 45 minutes. It was an amazing program. They did such a great job.

Cross-Country Skiing

Jackson started Cross-Country skiing twice a week. He really liked it until he realized that his friends go sledding after school and thinks that is better than skiing. He lasted two weeks. Oh well we will try next year.

Ashlynn's Ginger Bread House

Today Ashlynn got to make her very own Ginger Bread House at school. She was so excited to bring it home. And of course it only lasted til the next day before they ate the whole thing.

Ward Christmas Party!

Tonight was our ward Christmas Party. They had a delicious soup dinner with bread bowls and dozens of soups to choose from. They had a cookie contest, which I won 2nd place. Thanks to my husband for volunteering me to bake cookies! The kids got to make an ornament and Santa came to visit. They were so excited.

Jackson was so excited to give Santa his list. His list just kept getting longer and longer .

Ashlynn was so proud of the list she made with some help from Mommy and Daddy.

Every ward party that we have been to there is always a contest and trophies for the winners. The kids were so excited that I won...that they won. They both said they helped me...LOL. They trade off keeping the trophy in their rooms for the day. Too funny!

Decorating Our Christmas Tree

Tonight the kids and I decorated the Christmas tree while Daddy tried to be Clark Griswald and put the Christmas lights on the house...in the dark. He only slid once while on his stomach on the roof. Jackson came running in to get me...scary! The kids had fun decorating the tree and of course making funny faces for the camera which has become a must every time we take pictures. Gotta love Jackson's eyes...lol.

Costume Contest Winners!!!

We got a phone call today telling us that Jackson and Ashlynn were both winners in a Halloween Costume contest that they were in on Halloween. Jackson won 1st place and received a 20 inch bike and Ashlynn won 2nd place and received a $20 gift card. They were so excited to have won. It worked out perfect because Jackson had outgrown his bike.

Ward Trunk-or-Treat

Today we had a full day! Daddy had to work during the day so I took the kids to a Halloween Carnival. Afterwards, I took Ashlynn to get her face painted and entered both of them in a costume contest. Daddy got home from work and we went to our Ward Trunk-or-Treat. We then went Trick-or-Treating around our neighborhood with our next door neighbors. The kids had a fun filled day and got tons of candy.

Ashlynn had a class Halloween party today at school. It was nice they had a party since school district does not allow the kids to dress up. The room mom had so many fun things for the kids. They decorated ghosts, got their faces painted, played many games, and decorated cookies. Ashlynn had a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing her interact with her class.

Moved In!!!

It is official, we finally got moved into our new house. We got word that we could sign docs while we were in Cali so we returned a day early. We met up with Jeremy's parents in Saint George to load all our furniture. We got there and they had loaded almost all of our furniture by themselves. Thanks for all their hard work and for Jake letting us use his trailer one last time. Thanks to the rest of the family for helping with all the storage. We also want to thank our new ward for their help and welcoming us to the ward. We are so excited to be moved in and hope that this will be our last move for a long time.

We got to spend two days in Palm Desert. We went swimming and just relaxed after our day at Disneyland. The kids had fun swimming and taking baths in the Jacuzzi tub in our Villa.

Today we went to Disneyland and California Adventure. Our trip to Cali worked out perfect because our passes expired today. The kids enjoyed seeing everything decorated for Halloween. Last year we got to see it decorated for Halloween and Christmas. We had tons of fun. Jackson went on the roller coaster for the first time and loved it. Visiting Grandma & Grandpa in Cali

We went to visit Grandma and Grandpa in California. These pictures were taken today in between Conference sessions. They went to the park with Grandma and Grandpa while Mommy and Daddy took a nap. We had an enjoyable weekend relaxing in front of the TV Conference weekend and spending time with Grandma and Grandpa.

Wasatch Cheer Clinic

We signed Ashlynn up for the Wasatch Cheer Clinic. She had fun learning the cheers. They cheered tonight at the High School game. It had snowed all day and stopped an hour before the game...it was cold!!! She did such a great job considering how cold it was.

We Love You Bud!

Today Jackson turned 7. We celebrated his birthday by going to the new Pirate Island in Orem. Not sure who had more fun playing games...the kids or Mommy and Daddy. Jackson had fun shooting the rifle and Ashlynn had fun playing the game with the moving claws that drops and grabs a stuffed animal. Believe it or not she got 2 stuffed animals out of 5 tries and Jacks got 1 out of 2 tries, but Mommy and Daddy had no luck.

We opened presents and finished the day off with cake and ice cream. Jackson got an electric scooter, a Nintendo DS game, a bakugan, basketball hoop blow up for the pool, and some clothes. The kids our having fun riding the scooter up and down the street. Daddy even gave it a test ride. Yes, there is 120 pound weight limit. Ashlynn cannot ride it by herself so she has to ride it with Mommy. We are breaking the weight limit. Oh well gotta have some fun!

Jackson became our family barber today and Ashlynn officially has bangs now. Mommy could not help but scream. It is bound to happen once...right? We might need to check into getting her some hair extensions...LOL. Today was a sign that it is time for school to start.
Hopefully she does not get any ideas. It was not long after that she started complaining that her hair was in her eyes and face. We need to have someone finish the job.

Tonight we celebrated Daddy's birthday at our favorite birthday restaurant Macaroni Grill. Since there was some family with us we had early birthday for Jackson. His birthday is on the 27th. We had good food and great company. Thanks to those of you that came. And sorry for those who could not make it...we missed ya.

Today we picked up Daddy at work and spent his lunch break together. After we dropped him off we went to the store and got balloons and decorated his car. He knew we were up to something and could not help but to spy on us. He got caught peeking around a tree. Jackson and Ashlynn had fun even though Daddy could not wait...he is like a little kid on Christmas morning.

Jer, Hope you had a great day! Your birthday always brings back wonderful memories especially today as we celebrated at Macaroni Grill. Seven years ago today we had just finished moving into our very first home in California. We celebrated your b-day with Mom and Dad at Macaroni Grill as we awaited the birth of our first child. How excited we were to start our eternal family. And once again we are preparing to move into another home this next month and start another chapter of our lives. Just want to let you know how much I love you and appreciate all that you do for me and our kids. You are such a wonderful husband and father.

Jackson Can Ride!

We decided to take Jackson's training wheels off his bike today. He really does not ride it that much because it is a little too small and he enjoys riding his scooter. To our surprise he balanced with ease and took off riding on the first try. With his birthday coming up this Thursday we asked him if he wanted a new bike or the electric scooter that he found hiding in Daddy's trunk and he said scooter. Which means we might have to break down and get him a new bike before winter rolls around. These are those little moments that make Mommy and Daddy tear up and say "our babies are growing up".

End of Summer Party!

Our new ward had an end of summer party. We had so much fun and delicious food. The food was from Cafe Rio. They had face painting, pinatas, jump houses, water slide(we forgot swimsuits), and a dunk tank. Jackson and Ashlynn had fun playing with their new friends while Mommy and Daddy got to know some more new faces...if we could just remember everyone's names and who belongs to who that would be great.

Our New House!

Our new house is almost completed. It has been fun watching them build our house so fast. We cannot wait to move in. The neighborhood has so many kids. Jackson and Ashlynn have already made new friends. We have been attending our soon to be new ward for a month and have met so many wonderful families. They have been so welcoming which has made our transition very easy. The kids are actually excited to start a new school.

Park City & Early Anniversary!

We went to Park City for a few nights with family. The kids had so much fun swimming and hanging out with their cousins. The weather was absolutely beautiful. All the cousin's went home and Mommy took Jackson and Ashlynn to Grandma and Pa's for a sleepover. Mommy & Daddy got to have a little overnighter without kids. This was an early anniversary. We went to dinner, watched a movie, relaxed, and enjoyed spending time with each other. It was so nice to do these things and to talk without any interruptions :)

Camping in the Uintas

We went camping and 4-wheeling in the Uintas with family for two nights for Pioneer Day. This was Jackson and Ashlynn's first time 4-wheeling. They had a blast. It sprinkled a little during the day and rained both nights after we went to bed.

We had fun roasting starburst and marshmellows. The kids spent hours catching grasshoppers. By the time we left they had 5 water bottles filled with grasshoppers.

We had so much fun spending time together as a family. It was so beautiful there. Everything was so lush and green. It was a wonderful camping trip, but very dirty!

Date Night!

Mommy and Daddy had a date night. We got to take Pa's corvette. We had a delicious dinner, looked at our house being built, and went for a little drive. We had an enjoyable evening without kids. When we got home we promised the kids that we could take them for a spin. Of course we did not go far, but Daddy gunned it a couple of times and the kids loved it! Thanks Mom and Dad for the watching the kids and letting us use your nice ride!

Frosty the Goat

Our friends borrowed a baby goat for the day. It was a joke for her mom's birthday. We just had to go see it. Her name is Frosty. It was born during the winter and got frost bite on her ears. The kids had fun feeding her. She was such a sweetie.

Last Day of Fishing Club

Today was the last day of fishing club. Jackson and Ashlynn have been fishing every Wednesday for the past six weeks. They had a big fish fry and gave out awards. Jackson got the "Most Fish" award. He caught 11 and Ashlynn caught 10. They had so much fun fishing and had the best leaders. Their team was called "Catfish".

Today Ashlynn Grace turned 5 years old. It is hard to believe that our baby girl is 5. We have been so blessed to have her in our family. She is such a sweetie, but is our little drama queen. She is definitely a character and keeps us laughing. She is very girlie and loves to go shopping with her mommy. She loves to hang out and play with her big brother. And she absolutely adores her daddy. She has him wrapped around her finger. She is such a wonderful daughter, sister, grand daughter, and friend.

Daddy and Jackson woke up at 5:30 AM and went fishing for 6 hours with Jake and Kaily. They drove up to Strawberry Reservoir and rented a fishing boat. Jackson caught the biggest fish. It was 18 1/2 inches long. As they left the ranger stopped them. Little did they know that they had to release fish that were over 15 inches. So Daddy and Kaily got a ticket. Thank goodness they could not ticket Jackson. The sad part was that they took the fish...so poor Jacks could not even bring his fish home. They had fun even though it ended up being one expensive outing.

We spent Fourth of July with all the family at Grandma and Pa's house. We enjoyed having a BBQ, watching the firework show, doing fireworks, and roasting marshmellows for smores.

Boating at Deer Creek

Our friends invited us to go boating at Deer Creek. This was the first time boating for them. They had fun playing in the water and riding in the boat.

Liberty Land

Our friends invited us to go to a client appreciation day at Liberty Land with them. The kids had so much fun riding on all the rides, but most of all they loved rock climbing and laser tag. Thank you Engmans for invited us...we had a blast!

Springville Arts Festival

Today we went down to the Springville Arts Festival. The kids enjoyed making all sorts of fun things. We then went to visit one of mommy's friends from high school who lives in Mapleton. All the kids played while the moms visited.

Grandma & Grandpa Came to Visit

Grandma and Grandpa from California came to visit us for the week. We had so much fun with them and look forward to their next visit.

We went to Gardener Village. Jackson and Ashlynn went on a pony ride and spent over an hour in the petting zoo. They had so much fun playing and brushing all the animals.

We spent the day in Midway visiting a couple historical sites.

We went to visit Temple Square and ate at The Garden in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Grandma and Grandpa went to fishing club with us. They had so much fun watching the kids catch fish. Grandma has never been fishing. She even helped the kids put worms on their hooks. Fishing was the best part of her trip...she had a blast!

We got to see a moose off the side of the road one day. And of course we had to stop and get out of the car to get a glimpse of it. Grandma thought we were crazy to get so excited over this, but Grandpa thought it was the coolest thing and had his camera in hand.

Discovery Gateway

Daddy had the day off and we went to Discovery Gateway in Salt Lake City. We spent several hours there. Ashlynn was in heaven playing in the Grocery store and Jackson enjoyed being a news anchor (Video will be posted soon). We finished the night with Crown Burger...yum, yum! We had so much fun!

The Home Depot Kids Workshop

Today we went to The Home Depot Kids Workshop. Ashlynn and Jackson got cute little orange aprons and they got to build a wooden race car ramp. They had so much fun hammering away. They look forward to going to the next workshop.

Home of The Train

Today we dined in at Home of the Train for the first time. We usually just get an ice cream in the drive thru. We had delicious french fries with fry sauce and ice cream. Jackson and Ashlynn had fun watching the train go around and playing with the train set. On our way to the car I let them ride the train twice. I did wonder why there was a caution sign, but soon found out. Notice the sign...it says "Rough Ride". The sign was right. Ashlynn actually hit her head on the wall the first time. They were hilarious on the ride. Just watch the video below and see!

Weekend in Saint George

We went to Saint George this past weekend. Friday was the last day of school for Jackson and Daddy had Monday off so we thought it would be a fun start to summer vacation...so we thought. The kids were so excited because we made plans to visit our friends. On Saturday we went to out friends house for a barbecue. As we got ready to sit down and eat Jackson started screaming. Jackson and Roston were playing and he slid on the wood floor and his foot collided into the door jam breaking his pinkie toe...off to the ER we went! :(

We spent 3 hours in the ER. After x-rays, shots in the toe, resetting the toe, and a second set of x-rays he was done and ready to go play with his friends. He was so brave! The doctor said no swimming for a couple weeks...definitely not a great start to summer. He is a trooper and will make the best of it. The morning after he slept til 11:30. When he woke up he was in good spirits considering his limitations and could not wait to go hang out with our friends again. That afternoon we went our friend's house for dinner again. The kids played while the parents talked and tried to watch a movie. Besides the broken toe, it was a great weekend visiting our friends and relaxing together as a family.

Friend's Birthday Party

Jackson was invited to a birthday party for his friend Chancy. They are in the same class at school. He was so excited to go to his party because they don't get to hang out except at school since Chancy lives 20 minutes away. It was a beach party theme. They played water games and had potato sac races. Ashlynn and Chancy's sister Alyssa are the same age and they were so cute together. Jackson and Ashlynn are sad that they won't be going to school with all their friends next year. They will be going to a new school where our house is being built. We will definitely have to keep in touch and have many play dates with their friends after we move.

Jackson's Field Trip to Zermatt Resort

Today Jackson class went on there second field trip this week. They took a bus to Zermatt Resort. They got to go miniature golfing, ride the carousel a half a dozen times, eat pizza, and got to pick their own flavor of gelato ice cream. It was fun to see him interact with all his classmates...he was a character. He had such a great time!

Tonight was Ashlynn's preschool graduation. She looked so beautiful sitting up on the stage. She had a huge smile on her face through the entire program. She had two little speaking parts in the program. At the beginning she had to tell the audience to "Please sit down...good job" after the pledge of allegiance. And at the end each child got to say what they want to be when they grow up. Ashlynn said she wants to be a cheerleader.

Today Jackson went on a field trip. All the first graders took a bus ride into Kamas and went swimming at the Rec Center. We were nervous about letting him go because no parents were invited to go. Grandma even asked if she could go...nope. I was semi OK with the idea only because I have been there, but this was a first for Jackson. He did not hesitate to go on this field trip. He had so much fun and was excited that he could go down the bid slide without a life jacket.

Today Jackson and Ashlynn participated in a 1.2 mile race at the Safe Kids Summer Health Fair. We did not realize that Ashlynn could participate til we got there. So, we registered her at the last minute. There was one little problem...she was wearing flip-flops and she would not be able to go the entire distance with out getting tired. This meant...Daddy to the rescue! Daddy ended up going the mile with Ashlynn even though he too was wearing flip-flops. Jackson ran a good race. He got tired the last little bit, but Mommy met up with him and jogged the last little stretch. Ashlynn arrived at the finish line on Daddy's shoulders. The kids loved their medals and t-shirts that they got. They also had a blast running around the Health Fair for a couple hours with some friends. We came home with new booster seats for Daddy's car and new bicycle helmets...we are ready for a safe summer!

Today was Field Day at Jackson's school for the first graders. They got to compete in different events. He got 1st place in the Basketball Toss, 3rd place in the Frisbee Throw, 3rd place in tug-o-war, and 5th place in the Distance Run. He had so much fun and was so excited that he won. We wish we could have been there to cheer you on. We are so proud of you ...you are our winner!

Jackson wrote a little book about me for Mother's Day while he was at school today. He also planted a flower in a pot that he had painted and decorated. He gets so excited about giving gifts especially when he makes them and I love receiving them because they make the best memories.

(These pages were all bound together with ribbon which I had to take apart in order to scan which he was not to happy about. But, once he saw that I put it back together and he could see it on our blog he was ok.)

Mother's Day

Motherhood...what a blessing! If there is anything that I cherish the most...it is being a mother and wife. Today I have to give a big thank you to two wonderful women that have been examples to me throughout my life. One is my mother. She is truly my best friend(aside from my husband). I don't know what I would do with out her. And the second is my Grandma, who passed away shortly after Jeremy and I got married. The love that they have for their children and grandchildren is endless! I hope that I will be the type of mother and grandmother that they have been to me.

This has been one of the best Mother's Days that I have had. Between school and church I ended up with 4 potted flowers and lots of cards from Jackson and Ashlynn. It was an endless day of hugs and kisses from them. And my wonderful husband always knows the way to my heart. He wrote me the sweetest letter. He has written me many letters throughout the years. I have to admit...they are the best gifts.

Jackson's First Grade Program

Today Jackson performed in a program at his school. Each grade has a program throughout the school year. It is tradition that the first graders perform "Take Me Home...A Tribute to Midway". This program was an amazing program...it brought tears to our eyes and still does when we watch the video clips.

Each class performs to one song, but all kids sing every song in the program. The kids sang eight songs...Country Road, Good Old Days, Away to America, Lonely Goatherd, Switzerland, Edelweiss, I've Been Working on the Railroad, and See Us Shine.

Mommy's 35th Birthday!

Today was my 35th birthday! The four of us went to Macaroni Grill. This has been tradition since we have been married. It is our favorite place to celebrate birthdays. The kids love it when they sing happy birthday in Italian. Our waiter was the one that sang. He even brought me a flower.

My wonderful husband took the day off to celebrate my birthday. The two of us were able to spend a couple of hours together without kids. We spent the afternoon picking everything out for our new house that we are building. We have become experts at this since it is our third house we have built. We are so excited and anxious to have it finished so we can get settled. This will be our 11th move in 8 years...crazy! Thank you honey for working so hard to make this happen.

I failed to mention that Jackson was thrilled that he was getting out of school early today and shared with his class that it was his mommy's birthday the day before. Saving Money!

Jackson and Ashlynn have been learning how to save money. They have been trying so hard to save all the money they get to buy a Nintendo DS game. They finally had enough money to buy their game. We decided that we would stop and let them buy their game since we were in Salt Lake today. They both bought the game of their choice. We are so proud of them for working so hard at saving their money.

Easter Day!

The kids were so excited Easter morning that they forgot it was even Easter. The Easter bunny left a lot of stuff in their baskets and sent them on a treasure hunt for a golden egg. They had fun looking for all the clues and once they found the golden egg they were thrilled to find $5 for each of them inside it.

We took family pictures after church. The kids had so much energy and all they could think about was getting in the house to eat their candy. At least we got to take pictures outside with no snow.

We had a family Easter egg hunt at the Blackham's. The kids had so much fun getting more candy and more money. Thank you Grandma and Pa!

April is a busy month for birthdays. Grandma's is on the 13th, Tyler's is on the 14th, and Uncle Jake's is on the 17th. And two more to come the following week. Happy Birthday Grandma, Tyler, and Jake!

Easter Egg Hunt & Decorating Cookies

Today we went to an Easter Egg Hunt. Jessica, our cousin went with us. We ran into some friends which made it fun for Jackson since he was in a different group.

The kids made Easter cookies and decorated them at Grandma's house. They had a lot of fun making a mess out of Grandma's kitchen. Ashlynn could not seem to get enough flour on her.

When we visit Grandma and Grandpa we eat out a lot. We hit up all our favorite restaurants...Texas Roadhouse, Samurai 21, Olive Garden, etc. We got to eat at Pirate Island Pizza for the first time. We all ate dinner and then Mommy and Daddy went on a date to the movies while Jackson and Ashlynn stayed with Grandma and Grandpa and played games.

Grandma and Grandpa took the kids to the Splash Park downtown while Mommy & Daddy went on another date. Two date nights in a row...WOW. Next time we might have to go on a two day trip and leave them behind. They had tons of fun climbing all over the rocks. Afterwards they went to Blue Bunny and got an ice cream.

Park+Basketball+Friends=Fun

We had fun playing at the park and ofcourse playing basketball. Jackson would play basketball all day if he could. We also enjoyed just being able to be outside in the yard. The weather was so nice. It was a good break from the snow.

One night we stopped by and said hi to our friends. The kids were so excited to see each other. We have not seen them for over 6 months. It was a short visit, but well worth it. The kids had fun and we were glad that there were no tears this trip about they did not get to see Sage, Roston, and Aspen.
One day we took Jackson to visit his first grade class he was in. His teacher, Mrs. Hunt and all the kids were so excited to see him. All the kids went crazy as soon as they saw him. They were all yelling "Jackson". It was so cute. What a wonderful group of kids he went to school with and his teacher...amazing. This was our only regret of having to move. All that matters is that Jackson is happy, which he is. We will always remember the two years he attended Bloomington Elementary and the awesome teachers he had.

Ashlynn's Field Trip

Ashlynn's preschool went on a field trip to the fire station. They sure had fun interacting with the firemen and checking out the fire trucks. She was so excited to tell Jackson all about it. She even had to have an extra fire helmet and coloring book to bring home to him. She is so thoughtful when it comes to her big brother.

Our Daddy just found out that he was the #1 producer in the Region for both Washington Mutual and JP Morgan Chase Banks for the month of February. We are so proud of him and thankful that he works so hard for our little family. He is our family's successful business man.

We had Ashlynn's parent teacher conference today. It was so nice to see some of the things she has been learning this year. We were amazed at how well she is doing. It was so funny because she was so shy when her teacher asked her to do certain things. Her teacher wanted us to see how smart she is. She is reading sight words and most of the numbers up to 20. She is growing up to fast. We can't believe our baby is going to be 5 in July and starting Kindergarten in September. We are so proud of you.

Jackson's Parent Teacher Conference

Today we had Jackson's parent teacher conference. He was so excited to go because Daddy was going to his school for the first time. He got to show us his book that he made and worked so hard on. He also showed us his journal that he has been writing in all year. His teacher said that he is doing very well. He has mastered Reading and Math and has gotten 100% on all his spelling tests for this term. We are so proud of you!

There is one thing that he has been doing every week for the entire school year that we have not yet shared. Every Tuesday the first graders do the Gold Medal Mile. After they eat lunch they go outside and walk, jog, or run a mile. They do this no matter what the weather is. So most of the year they do this in the snow wearing snow clothes and snow boots. The best part of this is that Jackson is not always satisfied with doing a mile. Most the times he goes 2 miles, sometimes even more. Mommy's last words to him as she drops him off on Tuesday mornings is..."you don't need to do 2 miles, 1 will do." When we pick him up after school the first thing he does is show us his hand. The teacher puts a dot on their hand for every lap they do. He is so excited because he is participating in a race in May which includes all the schools in the district. This race is to finish off the Gold Medal Mile program for this school year.

A Friend's Birthday Party!

Today Ashlynn went to her friend's birthday party. Campbell and Ashlynn take dance together and are in the same class at church. The girls had so much fun swimming and going down the big slide. All these girls are just barely 5 or turning 5 in the next few months. Every single one of them went down the slide by themselves over and over again...brave little girls. Campbell's older sister played water games with them. At one time she had them marching in a line pretending they were cheerleaders...it was so cute. Ashlynn had so much fun and thought she was a big girl going down that slide.

Jackson and his class were in the local newspaper. He is pictured on the left. Last week Jackson failed to tell us that he was participating in a dance contest at school. For days he kept telling us that he was learning a dance during recess, but we had no clue that it was this big of a deal. This dance contest was optional for all the kids. We are so proud that he participated and worked so hard at learning the dance. We love you!

The Flash Game

Tonight we went to the Flash basketball game. We went to see our cousins dance group perform during half-time. They sure did a great job. Jackson was excited because two of the Jazz players play for the Flash. Jackson and Ashlynn had so much fun making noise and cheering the Flash on. Thank goodness we left after the half-time show...better yet their basketball noise makers ended up in the trash the next day.

Today Mommy was planning FHE. Jackson and Ashlynn decided to help cut and color pictures for the lesson. Then they decided that they wanted to plan their own lesson and this is what they prepared. So tonight we ended up having two lessons. They were so cute telling us about their pictures. It was a fun little family night.

Ice Skating

Yesterday Ahlynn's preschool had an ice skating field trip. Mommy had the pleasure to take both Jackson and Ashlynn by herself because Daddy had a business meeting...he knew what he was doing. We took more time getting ice skates on than the time we spent on the rink. Jackson did not like it one bit and wanted to go home. Ashlynn did a good job staying on her skates except when she wanted to be like Jacks and lay on the rink...and of course pose for the camera. If you look close enough the one picture is of all three of us, but Jacks was hiding because he was not happy being there. I did get one picture of him smiling before he decided ice skating was not his thing. That was the the first and probably the last time we go ice skating...at least for Jacks.

Trip to Saint George

We took a trip to Saint George for a few days with the Blackham's. It was a nice little break from the snow. The kids had so much fun with their cousins. We spent time at the park everyday playing basketball and tennis. We went to hike around Red Rock which the kids loved. Mom and Dad would have enjoyed it more without worrying about someone falling and getting hurt. Ashlynn and Jackson kept posing for the camera everytime they climbed a new rock.

The Fairbanks grand kids cannot go to Saint George without going swimming at least once while they are there so one day we went to Washington County Rec Center one day. The kids had so much fun swimming. It was nice because there was only a couple other kids there.

Valentine's Week

Valentine's week was full of fun. We started the week off with a party at the college. They made Valentine boxes, decorated cookies, and much more. Ashlynn's favorite part was frosting her cookie and eating the frosting off the plastic knife that everyone was to use...at least she did not double dip. Jackson and Ashlynn both had fun parties at their schools. They finished the week off with a Primary Party without Mom & Dad which was a first and had tons of fun. We cannot forget Grandma & Pa and Grandma & Grandpa Dye for all the fun Valentine stuff...especially the money...they are their parents' kids. LOL

Jackson's SEP Conference

Today we had SEP conference with Jackson's school teacher. He is standing in front of his class' bulletin board. He was so excited to show us his monster that him and his friend made. It is the monster on the yellow paper. He wanted me to take a picture and of course the one time we don't have the camera...thank goodness for cell phones. His teacher said that he is doing very well in school. She said that he loves to participate and has a great sense of humor. We are so proud of you Jackson and for your love of school.

A Day in Salt Lake

Yesterday we spent the entire day in Salt Lake with family. We went to Jumpin Jacks for Family Night. Afterwards we went to Bajio and had their delicious nachos...Mommy and Daddy's favorite. We had a fun day having no school for kids, no work for Daddy, and a day of fun with family.

Last night we watched "Gordon B. Hinckley, A Giant Among Men" for family night. We were shocked at how much the kids liked the movie. He was truly an amazing Prophet. Watching this movie brought back a lot of memories that Jeremy and I have of him since he was our Prophet a good portion of our growing up years. President Hinckley visited Santiago, Chile when Jeremy was serving his mission. He had the privilege to hear him speak to all the missionaries and was able to participate in the celebration of President Hinckley's visit to Santiago. We really enjoyed watching this as a family.

Wildlife

Looking for wildlife and going spot lighting is one of the fun things we enjoy doing where we live. Last night when we came home from Salt Lake we came across about 40 deer and a half a dozen buck a couple minutes from our house. We could not believe how many there were.

Today we came across about 20 elk a couple minutes from where we live not to count a couple dozen deer. The elk spend most of the winter in this field. Now we will have to drive by every time we are out and about...which means a couple times a day.

New Year's Day

New Year's Day! After a late night the kids still had tons of energy. They spent the afternoon sledding in the backyard. Uncle Jake and Uncle Tim built a jump. The kids were catching some major air. Jackson actually got the wind knocked out of him and hurt his back because he got turned around and went off the jump backwards. Everyone had a fun New Year's Day sledding, eating, and playing games with family.

Happy New Year's! We celebrated New Year's Eve with the Blackham's, Grandma, and Pa. We missed the Owen's and Jake and Kaily. It was a night of eating, games, and tons of fun. The kids and adults had a blast playing "Pit". All the kids made it til 12 and finally crashed around 1:30...it was a late night, but fun, fun,fun!

Christmas Day!

Christmas Day was tons of fun with a lot of snow. It snowed the entire day. The four of us went sledding in the backyard for 3 hours. Mommy and Daddy had fun being kids again. We had one very white Christmas.

The kids were so excited to wake up to a letter from Santa and lots of presents. They thought it was cool that he left them a letter, ate the cookies, and drank the milk. They both got a Nintendo DS, Adidas outfits, and lots of other fun stuff. We had such an enjoyable Christmas Day.

Chistmas Eve!

Christmas Eve was spent with all the Fairbanks family. We spent the day eating and playing in the snow. The kids had so much fun sledding with their cousins in Grandma and Pa's backyard. Uncle Jake took all the kids for sled rides behind the 4-wheeler.

We ended the day with opening presents from Grandma and Pa. All the grandkids got matching pajamas. The night ended so fast that we forgot to take pictures of all the kids in their pjs. Jackson was so excited that he got Mario Kart for the Wii. Ashlynn got fun little girly dolls and a Wii remote. They now have their own remote for the Wii...no more fighting. Jackson is having so much fun with the puppies. He loves holding them and taking care of them. He will be such a helper when we have another child.

First Day of Winter Vacation

Today was the first day of winter vacation and the kids were already bored until...Pa decided to plow the driveway and our neighbor came over with a sled so Pa could pull the kids behind the 4-wheeler. They were getting impatient waiting so I pulled them around on the sled. They were sliding all over and having fun. A couple times they almost fell off. Jackson said "you are the best mom"...if you only heard the sweet voice he used to say it. Then they were off with Pa on the 4-wheeler...down the street they went. I could not see them, but I could sure hear them laughing and screaming. They were having such a blast that I decided to jump on the 4-wheeler so I could see their expressions...they were hilarious. It was a fun afternoon. The snow saved the day!!!
